Libya chairs the meetings of the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in the Arab region

Under the presidency of Libya, the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in the Arab region held its tenth meeting on Thursday, December 16, 2021, via video conference, chaired by Dr. Taher Abu Al-Hasan, Chairman of the Sustainable Development Committee in Libya and the current President of the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in the Arab region. The meeting was attended by the heads of sustainable development committees in Arab countries, as well as representatives from the Arab League, the Sustainable Development and International Cooperation Administration at the Arab League, representatives from the United Nations, ESCWA, and a number of international organizations and institutions.

During this meeting, various issues and initiatives were reviewed and discussed, and a set of decisions and recommendations were made regarding the initiative to eradicate hunger in the Arab region, achieving sustainable development in conflict-affected countries, sustainable financing mechanisms in the Arab region, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on achieving sustainable development goals in the Arab region. It was also agreed to launch the Arab Network for Science and Technology for Sustainable Development during the upcoming Arab Sustainable Development Week and to complete the establishment of Arab forums for sustainable development in Arab countries. Additionally, it was agreed to organize the Arab Sustainable Development Week in February 2022, hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt.
