The Bazian cement plant surrounds the local communities whose main livelihood is agriculture. Lafarge Iraq implements a special corporate social responsibility program in this area focusing on agricultural projects including infrastructure development, land rehabilitation, and technical training.

One of the projects that recently completed its third phase is the “irrigation canal for the village of Hiyasi,” which has greatly assisted the local community in sustaining their agricultural businesses in a sustainable manner. Thanks to this project, an additional 6.5 hectares of agricultural land have been cultivated, including 1.5 hectares of high-quality rice fields, which is one of the most famous agricultural products in the region.
