Ministry of Education: Committed to achieving sustainable development goals and requirements
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research affirmed today, Monday, its commitment to achieving the goals and requirements of sustainable development.
A statement from the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated, “In harmony with the International Day of Education on the twenty-fourth of January and emphasizing the importance and impact of education in development programs and bringing about change, the ministry is continuing in its policies that deal with the goals of sustainable development and meeting its requirements in Iraq and its strategy in considering population growth indicators and providing scientific, educational, and advisory services to all sectors of the state.”
It added, “Despite the circumstances and challenges, our government and private universities have succeeded in this path according to the United Nations indicators in supervision, awareness, and education with the goals of sustainable development and have been able to accommodate more than one million, one hundred and thirteen thousand students in primary and higher studies in medical, engineering, agricultural, veterinary, pure sciences, administrative, educational, humanitarian, legal, and arts disciplines, fulfilling their tasks and functions in providing knowledge, producing scientific research, and serving the community.”
It continued, “On this occasion, we join UNESCO in celebrating the International Day of Education and look forward to further cooperation in educational fields and development programs that serve the region and the world.”
