The Monetary Authority encourages banks to direct their social responsibility budget to combat Corona
The Monetary Authority confirmed that it encouraged banks to direct their social responsibility budget to support the efforts of the Palestinian government and the health sector to confront the Corona pandemic and limit its spread in Palestine, during the year of the emergence and spread of the pandemic.
This came during the reception of the Governor of the Monetary Authority, Mr. Azzam Shawwa, in his office in Ramallah, with the Minister of Labor, Mr. Nasri Abu Jaish, where they discussed the economic situation in light of the current crisis resulting from the outbreak of the Corona virus.
During the meeting, the latest developments and measures taken by both the Monetary Authority and the Ministry of Labor were reviewed to mitigate the repercussions of the crisis on the affected groups and families.
The Governor of the Monetary Authority, Azzam Shawa, explained that the social responsibility budget will contribute to providing resources to support the social safety network for the segments affected by this epidemic, especially through the Wakfet Izz Fund, which was formed under the wise directives of the esteemed government to confront the repercussions of the current health crisis.
In turn, the Minister of Labor confirmed that the Corona crisis caused great damage to Palestinian workers, noting that the Ministry of Labor launched a program to support workers affected by the Corona virus in the local market, and that the intervention includes 35,000 workers who lost their jobs.
